Cold espresso can taste bright and luxurious—if you manage dilution and temperature.

Shakerato (1 serving)

  • 1 double espresso (30–45 g)
  • 8–12 g simple syrup (or to taste)
  • Ice to fill shaker
Shake hard ~15 seconds; strain into a chilled glass. Fine foam, no chunks.

Freddo Espresso

  • 1 double espresso over ice; shake with 6–10 g syrup; strain over fresh ice.
  • For Freddo Cappuccino: top with cold foam; see Iced Coffee Recipes.

Coffee Tonic

  • Tall glass with ice
  • 150–180 g tonic
  • 35–45 g espresso poured gently on top
Add citrus peel if you like.

Beans and Water

  • Medium roasts with chocolate/caramel sit well in cold drinks.
  • Keep water clean (60–90 ppm hardness); see Coffee Water Quality.
